Working Vacation in Florida
Hi all! We've been in Florida the past week, working on some projects for the family's house and enjoying a respite from the frozen tundra (aka, the Catskills). While Casey and I are here, we are working on fixing his dad's pickup truck, doing some plumbing and electrical work on the house, and possibly even pouring a cement pad if we can find time. Casey's grandparents are also down in the sunshine state, and they have been graciously trying to encourage the vacation aspect of our trip. Casey and his grandfather are planning a boating escapade down the Indian River, and yesterday we took a drive to the only dog-friendly beach in the county. There were so many people and dogs! Sprocket was a little overwhelmed at first -- he'd never been to the ocean or a dog park before -- but after Casey took him running through the surf a couple times, he decided he loved it.
I hope we can go there again before we head out to Texas!

Hitting the road
After some time visiting Sara's family in NJ we're doing the longer leg of the trip: NJ to FL tomorrow. Tomorrow night we should be arriving at my friend Arick's home in Ocala. Arick makes PVC wind turbine blades so we will be sure to stock up. We plan on doing some catching up, working on a few projects and picking up some used items for our homestead. From Arick's we'll head farther south to Fort Pierce, FL and visit my grandparents for a bit then on to TX. It's a long way there when you take so-many detours, but it's worth it.
Will post another blog entry when we get to FL. But for now, need Sleep.

March/Marzo
Welcome to March everybody! Spring is just around the corner :)
We are working on heading back down south, but first we have to face the daunting task of packing. We have decided to take the gasifier to Texas with us, so that gives us the opportunity to load up the trailer it sits on, too! Unfortunately there is never enough room for all the stuff we would like to bring, but little-by-little we will get it all down there. The poor little pickup can only carry so much, after all. Hopefully our families don't mind storing some of our stuff for a while!
There is still a lot of snow on the ground, though today it was sunny and some of the snow melted. There are still three to three-and-a-half feet of heavy, wet snow, and Nanika the Arabian horse only just left her barn area today, though she kept to the paths we have made.
Finalizing trip details and preparing the truck will take a few days yet, and we don't want to commit to a departure and ETA until we are surely sure. But also, we really miss our little house and are chomping at the bit to get back there and back to our projects/homestead. We love the Northeast, but we love Texas too!
